Bedrock assists in Biodiesel: A Renewable Fuel

Ever wonder what happens to all that cooking oil after it's used to fry your french fries?

You’d be amazed what has a byproduct of oil in it. Recycled fat is purchased and in turn reproduced and sold for animal feed stock, dog-food, cosmetics, plastics, soaps, and a little bit of everything else. However, the demand for biofuel is on the rise. Most U.S. biodiesel is produced from vegetable oils and animal fats and biodiesel can be used in the same equipment as diesel fuel made from petroleum.

This year we have chosen to work with Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. which is a locally owned and operated company. They sell Biodiesel and yellow grease for the production of biodiesel to companies in the USA and abroad. They got into this business for four main reasons:

1. The Economy - Biodiesel supports the American economy but specifically it supports the local economy. They work, live and employ people in Erie and Niagara country.

2. Recycling - They want to do something about the waste oil being produced. It's a messy job but they can keep this stuff out of land fills and ANIMAL FEED. If you are what you eat, you can see the chain. It's a lot easier to make biodiesel from virgin oils but it drives up the price of food globally, which is something that they do not want to support.

3. The Environment - Biodiesel is clearly the better fuel for the environment. It's approved by the EPA as the only real alternative "diesel" fuel and it's chemical emissions are so much lower than Regular # 2 diesel (except NOX). The big seller for them is actually being able to take a wiff of thier exhaust and not gagging.

4. The Product - Basically they found that Biodiesel, for it's smell, power, lubricity, environmental benefit and COST- is the better way to go. It's really great stuff and they love it!

The opportunity to work with a company passionate about our future, environment, and alternate resources aligns perfectly with our mission. Thank you to Buffalo Biodiesel for making this happen!
